HISTORY OF RIVER IN THE SPOTLIGHT
RESIDENTS are being given the chance to work alongside social scientists on a project to explore the impact of the textile industry on a North Staffordshire river.
Restorying Riverscapes is bringing together the global activism movement and organisation, Fashion Revolution, scientists from Keele and Loughborough University alongside the local community.
Their aim is to examine historical changes on the River Churnet in Leek, above, as a result of textile production in the area.
The project team are inviting people to get involved in reconstructing the history of the River Churnet and textile industry by examining local archives, family narratives, and more.
The second of three public events takes place tomorrow at Rudyard Lake Activity Centre, between 10am and 12.30pm.
Details about the project can be found at www. fashionrevolution.org. Events can be signed up to at www.eventbrite.co.uk.
