PIG RACING HELPS RAISE VITAL FUNDS
MORE than £2,000 has been raised for local charities at a ‘pig race’.
Brown Edge Village Hall was the venue for Leek Rotary’s annual event.
More than 100 supporters gathered for the six race cards sponsored by local businesses with spirited betting on a Tote managed by club members.
Six different ‘jockeys’ competed in each race which saw competitors pull their cut out images of pigs along the course by string.
Races included the Moorlands Hog Roast Stakes, the Prospect Windows Plate and the Eyeball Chase, with lucky owners receiving a bottle of wine.
