‘ANGRY’ MAN FINED FOR RESISTING POLICE

THIRTY-YEAR-OLD Callum Belfield has been fined £40 after he admitted resisting a police officer in the execution of his duty.

Prosecutor Zoe Leese told North Staffordsh­ire Justice Centre police were called to Hanley city centre in the early hours of April 24.

Miss Leese said: “Officers saw three men. One was the defendant.

“They told them to stop. They ran past an alleyway to Tontine Street. Belfield turned in an aggressive stance. Police drew their PAVA spray.

“Officers attempted to cuff Belfield. He became angry.

“They calmed him down and arrested him.”

As well as the fine Belfield, of Heathfield Road, Chell Heath, was ordered to pay £135 costs and a £34 surcharge.
