‘DRIVERS NEED TO BE BRACED FOR MORE PAIN AT THE PUMPS’

-

DIESEL prices have reached a record high of more than 180p per litre, new figures show.

The RAC said this was due to increases in wholesale prices caused by efforts to reduce the importation of Russian diesel. The average price was 150p on February 1. It has since become about £17 more expensive to fill up a 55-litre family diesel car. Petrol reached an average of 166.7p per litre on Sunday. RAC fuel spokesperson Simon Williams said: “While the wholesale price has eased in the last few days, this is likely to be temporary, especially if the EU agrees to ban imports of Russian oil. Drivers with diesel vehicles need to brace themselves for yet more pain at the pumps.”
