HALL MAY CLOSE WITHOUT MORE VOLUNTEERS

A MEMORIAL hall is at risk of closure – unless volunteers come forward.

Lawton Memorial Hall, in Church Lawton, near Alsager, says the number of people willing to help out has ‘dwindled’ in the past few years.

Attempts to find a part-time caretaker have also failed.

Now organisers say the hall may close for good unless more people volunteer by the end of August.

They are appealing for anyone interested in helping out to attend the hall’s AGM next week.

A spokesman said: “Lawton Memorial Hall is a successful, viable and popular community venue with great facilities but it cannot continue to run without volunteers to help.”
