ROMANTIC treehouses are now available to book at a boutique hotel.

The Tawny Hotel, in Consall Gardens, is adding two more room types to its 70-acre estate.

The Hillside Treehouses welcome their first guests this month, and the even more luxurious Retreat rooms will be ready by late summer.

In all, there are six Hillside Treehouses offering views of the North Staffordshire countryside. The timber framedbuildings are clad with cedar and larch, which will weather and blend into the scenery over time.

A Tawny spokesman said the treehouses’ clever design and use of space offer ‘pure escapism’ – and ‘stretching’ views of the countryside near Wetley Rocks.

He added: “The new treehouse lodges are set within mature woodland and any trees that had to be felled for their construction were sustainably used for biomass. The foundation systems were specifically chosen, as they can be removed with no harm caused to tree roots.

“The lodges themselves are powered by a district heating system, meaning each lodge does not require its own boiler but is fed by an efficient centralised system.”

In August, eight new Retreat suites – with sunken indoor bathtubs and an outdoor spa-bath – will also become available.

The spokesman said the cedar-clad cabins are designed as the ‘ultimate rural bolthole’ and will offer ‘utmost luxury’ to guests.

He added: “Interiors offer simple and understated design with clean lines and contemporary furnishings, framed against floor to ceiling

windows that look out on the wood- land estate. All retreat rooms will have super-king-size beds with sunken indoor bathtubs and an outdoor spa-bath so guests can gaze upwards at the starlit sky while winding down in the evening.”

They join the 55 existing rooms and suites at The Tawny, which include a mix of Shepherd’s Huts, Valley Treehouses, Boathouses and the Lookout.

The Tawny is set within the grounds of the Consall Hall Estate. It opened in July last year and each of its guest rooms have been inspired by its surroundings.

The spokesman said: “Along with the exciting choice of accommodation, The Tawny Hotel offers a plethora of activities including swimming in the heated outdoor pool, guided yoga sessions surrounded by nature, embarking on an adventure by rented bike or wild running though the grounds. “When it’s time to eat, The Tawny offers everything from fine dining in the artfully designed Plumicorn restaurant, sociable drinks in the Feather-lounge and laid-back picnics in the grounds.”
