#localandproud SKIP TO MY LOU:

-

Football legend Lou Macari visited a school to congratulate them on their sporting success.

The former Stoke City manager, who played for Celtic, Manchester United and Scotland, presented youngsters at St Mary’s C of Academy in Tunstall with medals.

It followed the success of two boys’ teams and one girls’ team during a football tournament at the Ormiston Horizon Academy. Teacher Mr Gould said the teams had come a long way since heavy pre-season defeats.

He said: “The boys and girls have shown true resilience and perseverance.

“We’d like to say a big thank you to Lou Macari who gave up his time to congratulate our players. “As Lou said, it’s at primary school where many exciting journeys start and we believe that we have children here set to be the next Steph Houghton or Marcus Rashford!”
