GOLFERS GETTING ALL TEED UP FOR RETURN OF CUPS
Entries are open for charity competitions
GOLFERS still have time to sign up for the return of two Sentinel charity golf competitions.
The Sentinel Cup and The Sentinel Shield are both open to members of recognised golf clubs in North Staffordshire and South Cheshire.
Entries for both have been open throughout this month but the closing date is May 23, so golfers are being urged to get theirs in before Monday of next week.
Both competitions will get under way in June, with the semifinals taking place on Sunday, August 21, 2022 at Newcastle Golf Club and the finals on Sunday, September 11, 2022 at Trentham Golf Club.
The Sentinel and KMF are, once again, sponsors of the competitions with the winners lifting the prestigious trophies.
Competition chairman Amrik Rai is hoping for a great turnout of golfers for the return of the event.
He said: “We have decided to make entry free as a thank you for the support given to us over the years.
“Entries may be restricted due to timescale and the numbers we can accommodate.
“We would therefore encourage competitors to enter as quickly as possible to avoid disappointment.”
The competition involves rounds of individual matchplay golf.
The rules apply as in individual matchplay with full handicap allowance.
The maximum handicap index of Cup entrants is to be 10.9. Players up to handicap index of 13.0 are permitted to enter but they must play off the maximum handicap index of 10.9.
The Shield is open to players between the handicap index of 11.0 and 20.0.
Those up to a handicap index of 28.0 may enter but they must play off the maximum handicap index of 20.0.
If a match is all square after 18 holes the tie is to be decided by ‘sudden death’ play-off.
To enter the competition, the entry form must be completed. They can be found at your golf club, by scanning the QR code, left, or by searching Facebook for ‘stoke sentinel golf competitions’.
