BRILLIANT BRATT INSPIRES CHEADLE

JAMIE Bratt’s magical 11-ball spell set up Cheadle thirds’ NSSCL Division Seven win at home against Endon seconds.

Bratt claimed 5-0 from 1.5 overs including four wickets in four balls to wrap up the innings - as Endon tumbled from 43-3 to 49 all out in the weekend encounter..

Phillip Reynolds top-scored with 16, while Euan Bratt picked up 3-14 early in proceeding­s.

Cheadle didn’t waste much time in knocking off the runs as Alfie Bonehill (17) and Sam Cliffe (15) secured an eight-wicket win.

Kidsgrove made the highesteve­r team score in the division’s history in their clash with Onneley seconds.

Kidsgrove piled up 357-2 from their 40 overs, topping the previous best of 326 scored by Bagnall against Oakamoor in 2006.

Chris Highfield led the way with the bat, making 159, which came off just 91 balls and featured 20 fours and five sixes.

He put on 168 for the first wicket with Christian Barber, who made 72, before adding 129 for the second with Adam Shaw (81no).

Shaw then claimed 5-34 as Onneley’s reply came to an end with the score on 144 after tea.

Kyle Knowles led the resistance with 61, with Ash Hall contributi­ng 32.

Audlem were also in sparkling form with the bat in their easy success at Wood Lane seconds.

A second-wicket stand of 151 between Dan Butler and Andy Rothwell enabled Audlem to eventually reach 298-3 from their allocation.

Butler struck 20 fours and one six in his unbeaten 145, with Rothwell chipping in with 77.

Chris Shenton also played his part with 32.

Ian Wain replied with 49, but Neil Humphries’ 6-15 left the home side all out for 96.

Audley thirds beat Sandbach seconds by just three runs in their meeting.

Richard Redman’s 70, which contained nine boundaries, formed the backbone of Audley’s 156-6 from their 40 overs. Charles Birkin lent valuable support with 38, while Muhammad Rizwan scooped a couple fo wickets.

Kamran Randhawa (47) was at the forefront of Sandbach’s run chase but they fell just short.

They were dismissed for 153 in the penultimat­e over as William Birkin helped himself to 4-57 and there were a couple of wickets apiece for Tom Jones, Andrew Forster and Joe Gibson.

Porthill Park fourths made home advantage count to beat Woore seconds.

Matt Bailey’s 58, featuring seven fours and one six, helped Porthill Park to a healthy 197-6.

Calum Bilton (37), Andrew Nelson (36) and Alex Lockett (35) also played their part in a solid Porthill Park batting effort. Lauren Kenvyn and Martin Harper shared four of the wickets to fall.

Amy Griffiths top-scored with 36 after the interval, but Bailey’s

3-29, allied to double strikes from Lockett, Daniel Brownsword and Nathan Price, limited Woore to 157-9.

Rode Park & Lawton banked the points from their clash with Checkley thirds.

Neil Cheadle (56) starred for Rode Park & Lawton in their 170 all out, with William Carr producing a superb spell to finish with 6-46.

Lorcan Potts (50) and Gavin Carr (28) kept Checkley in contention, but Rode Park & Lawton managed to keep their rivals at arm’s length.

Two wickets apiece for Jacob Mountford, Sam Marshall, Phil Cheadle and Michael Hulme left Checkley all out for 139 in the contest.
