Shop’s a Hotspot for delicious desserts

- Rachel Alexander newsdesk@reachplc.com

TASTY treats are top of the menu after a former tanning salon’s £250,000 transformation into a dessert shop.

And customers don’t even have to leave their homes to enjoy what Sweet Hotspot has to offer – the Bentilee business will deliver.

The Beverley Drive venture is the brainchild of former Staffordshire University student Muhammed Junaid Sharif, who hopes to bring something new to the estate.

And the 32-year-old, of Etruria, intends to add seating to turn it into a restaurant next year.

Muhammed Junaid said: “In Bentilee there are no dessert places – this is something different.”

The shop owner has plenty of experience, having worked in the food industry for 13 years.

He says running a dessert shop is more straight forward than other food ventures. He added: “You can do lots of creations and you don’t have to have such a big amount of stock. A lot of the stock is frozen.

“The majority of the stuff comes ready made but the pancakes, waffles and cookie dough are homemade.”

Hotspot’s desserts include gelato, churros, sundaes, cookie dough, waffles, crepes, pancakes, milkshakes, donuts, cheese cakes, smoothies and mocktails.

Muhammed Junaid is completing some decorating at the business. He added: “We look forward to seeing the customers and we look forward to their feedback - to see if we can improve on something. So far we’ve had really good feedback.”
