EMILY BLUNT STARS IN GRIPPING TALE OF REVENGE

-

BBC2, 9pm

A LOVE letter to the old fashioned Western, this six-part period drama follows two people on a dangerous and emotional journey.

Set in 1890s Oklahoma, Pawnee native Eli Whipp (Chaske Spencer) is intent on returning north to his ancestral homelands in Nebraska to stake a legal land claim.

Emily Blunt plays Englishwoman Lady Cornelia Locke, also desperate to travel north to take revenge against the man she believes is responsible for the death of her child.

But neither is having an easy time.

Having returned to civilian life, Eli soon discovers he has no protection against brutal prejudice except his own supreme physical abilities – but are they enough to survive in this volatile landscape? On arrival in the country, courtesy of stagecoach reinsman Sebold Cusk (Toby Jones) – Cornelia is greeted by hotelier Richard M Watts (Ciarán Hinds), and soon discovers that her lodging is not the most hospitable.

Having stumbled across each other’s paths, Cornelia convinces Eli to let her travel with him – although neither is aware that their goals are rooted in a shared past.

It’s a violent region and they must face terrifying obstacles that will test them to their limits.

This is a tale as old as time – retribution, justice and determination keep them going.

Emily and Chaske as Cornelia and Eli make a formidable on-screen duo and you’ll be behind them through every gun-toting, horse-galloping, justice-driven disaster.
