ST JOHN THE BAPTIST CHURCH, CROSS HILL, BURSLEM
Designation: Grade II
Condition: poor
Occupancy: religious organisation
This church was largely rebuilt in 1717, but retains its medieval tower. Non-breathable paint on the nave external walls is trapping moisture, causing significant levels of damp internally and the deterioration of the outer brick face. Outbreaks of dry rot have occurred in the past and re-roofing with inappropriate and heavy concrete tiles on the hipped nave roof is leading to structural problems. The building has multiple fabric defects and has been subject to heritage
