OAP BITTEN BY STAFFIES ‘TERRORISING THE AREA FOR 18 MONTHS’
Man had ‘punctures to leg’
STAFFORDSHIRE bull terriers ‘terrorising’ a community have struck again – biting an OAP.
The man in his 70s is the latest victim of the two Staffies in the area of Six Crowns Wood and Sammie’s Pool, in Fenton.
The latest attack happened on Wednesday afternoon.
Staffordshire Police have been informed.
It is not the first time that the OAP and his wife have come face-toface with the dogs which appear to be running wild without an owner.
The victim said: “We were the only people in sight so they started circling us and barking aggressively and the brown one starting getting closer and closer to me, eventually diving in and biting me on the leg just below the knee.
“Fortunately I was wearing jeans.
“Even so my jeans were ripped and there were several puncture wounds to my leg so it was a good job that my tetanus shot was still in date.
“My wife had knocked on one of the groundfloor flats and the lady very kindly let us in so we could get away from them.
“I contacted the police and they turned up a few minutes later by which time the dogs had disappeared.
“These animals weren’t strays – they looked well fed and both had sturdy collars. There has never been any sign of an owner.
“Speaking to other residents it is apparent that these animals have been terrorising the area for the last 18 months or so and it appears that there have been at least half-a-dozen occasions when people have either been attacked or, at the very least, frightened by them.
“What concerns me most is that this is a popular area for dog walkers, anglers, walkers and children playing football.”
The attack happened on Sloane Way at 1.35pm on Wednesday, November 9.
A police spokesman said: “We were called to reports of a man bitten by a dog.
“The victim reported being bitten by a brown Staffordshire bull terrier. The man did not require any treatment.
“The dog was also with a white Staffordshire bull terrier at the time of the incident.
“Following the incident, both dogs were seen heading in the direction of Six Crowns Wood.”
