MAN, 22, ARRESTED AFTER HOUSE BLAZE LEAVES THREE IN HOSPITAL

Neighbours evacuated in the early hours

A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of arson after a fire at a Stoke-on-trent home.

Firefighte­rs extinguish­ed the blaze, in King Street, Fenton, and ensured the property was safe while police evacuated neighbouri­ng buildings.

Two children and a woman were assessed by paramedics and taken to hospital as a precaution.

A 22-year-old man, from Stoke-ontrent, was arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life.

Staffordsh­ire Police said officers were sent to the fire in the early hours of yesterday.

A spokesman added: “A man has been arrested following a house fire in

Stoke-on-trent. We were called to an address near King Street just before 1.30am following reports of a house fire.

“We attended alongside colleagues from Staffordsh­ire Fire and Rescue Service and paramedics from West Midlands Ambulance Service. Firefighte­rs extinguish­ed the fire and ensured the property was safe whilst we evacuated adjoining buildings.

“Two children and a woman were assessed by paramedics at the scene and were taken to hospital as a precaution.

“A 22-year-old man, from Stoke-ontrent, was arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life. He remains in custody while inquiries continue.”
