‘Brexit paradise is more like a mirage’
I READ with interest the letter ‘Johnson had his hands tied from the start’ (Sentinel, November 12).
The closing sentences are: ‘With regards to the benefits of Brexit, Rome wasn’t built in a day. Be patient, the good times will come.’
Six years ago Liam Fox promised that Brexit would be ‘a walk in the park’ and ‘the easiest transaction ever concluded by this country’.
Time brought some caution. Jacob Rees-mogg admitted the benefits might take 50 years to materialise.
A guess would be that the arrival of this earthly paradise will be an everreceding mirage.
The Government is too unstable to negotiate. Brexit has been a contributory factor to this paralysis and chaos. In view of present events we should be trying to improve relations with Europe instead of clinging to a policy which has proved to be a big mistake.
