MAN ‘CRITICAL’ AFTER COLLAPSING IN BAKERY

A SHOPPER ‘in his 30s’ was left fighting for his life after collapsing in a fast-food shop.

Customers raised the alarm after the man was taken ill in Pound Bakery’s Castle Walk branch, in Newcastle, on Saturday morning.

Three ambulances, an air ambulance, and a paramedic officer were called to the shop.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We were called at 10.17am. Upon arrival, crews found a man in a critical condition. They immediatel­y began administer­ing advanced life support to him and continued en-route to the Royal Stoke University Hospital.”

A Staffordsh­ire Police spokespers­on said: A witness reported that a man in his 30s had suffered a cardiac arrest. The man was taken to hospital.”
