MIDDLETON LEADS FIRST-HALF BLITZ AS WOOD LANE CRUISE PAST CHALLENGE OF CUCKOO

WOOD Lane produced a stunning first-half performanc­e on their way to a 7-1 Premier Division win at Cuckoo Albion.

The visitors sealed the points in the opening 45 minutes as they went into the break 6-0 to the good.

Callum Middleton claimed a hat-trick with Liam Kelter and Billy Middleton also on target.

Connor Jones added to the total before the interval with Josh Mackintosh netting after the break, while Jay Pugh replied for the hosts.

In Division One, Beverley Athletic are up to third after a 5-3 away win at Royal Furlong.

A quick free-kick from Jim Hazleton found Jordan Mace who beat his man before finishing well for 1-0 and Marco Buckley doubled the advantage soon after as he shot across the keeper into the corner.

Buckley turned provider as the visitors ran into a 3-0 lead as his cross was turned home by Lee Godwin and a penalty award converted by Marco Buckley made it 4-0.

Callum Ward gave the hosts some hope just before the interval as he took advantage of a defensive slip to score.

The second half started with a contentiou­s penalty for the hosts converted by Jack Davies to bring it back to 4-2.

Lewis Mcmurdo came on and had an immediate impact for the away team as Jordan’s Lonczyk’s header back across goal was prodded home by the substitute.

There was still time for Josh Beaumont to claw another, but too late to deny Beverley.

Shamblers and Adderley Green the leading duo - played out a 2-2 draw in their meeting.

Elisio Francisco gave the visitors a half-time lead, but second-half goals from Tom Groves and Lee Campbell earned Shamblers a point with Daniel Holdcroft netting a second for the away side. Adderley remain two points clear at the top with Shamblers now only second on goal difference.

Vale Hoppers and Redgate Clayton shared six goals in their encounter.

Redgate settled sooner than their hosts and were rewarded when Mitch Looskan opened the scoring on 18 minutes.

Hoppers rallied, however, and began to grow into the game leading to a leveller from the penalty spot. James Greener was fouled in the box and Zack Oakes scored.

The hosts took the lead just before the hour mark when James Greener fired home from the edge of the box.

The home side were guilty of missing chances at this stage, but did eventually go 3-1 ahead when Paul Spruce headed home after 74 minutes.

Redgate poured forward in an attempt to get something from the game and could have conceded on the break, but again Hoppers were wasteful.

A free-kick for the visitors on the edge of the box was contested, but given nonetheles­s, and George Ellis levelled in a scramble in the box.

Almost 10 minutes of stoppage time gave Redgate one final chance to level and they did with a lastgasp Sam Finney effort.

AFC Moorlands are into second place in Division Two after a 6-0 victory over Cheshire Cheese.

Nathan Chinn-shaw and Josh Burt both scored twice for the hosts with Luke Hopkins and an own goal completing the scoring.

Coach & Horses made home advantage count to beat Windmill Werrington 2-0.

Coach took the lead when Harry Corbett-evans finished a brilliant team move with a sweet left-footed finish.

Coach dominated for long spells of the game and the points were sealed when Jordan Cleaver finish well from 18 yards.

Leaders Hazelhurst were held to a 2-2 draw on their visit to Queensberr­y.

Hazelhurst went in front on the half-hour through Leo Emery, but Callum Towey levelled only five minutes later for the hosts.

Towey was brought down by the keeper just three minutes later and he picked himself up to score from the spot to give the hosts a halftime advantage.

The visitors weren’t to be denied a point, however, as Adam Clarke equalised on 70 minutes.

In Division Three, Mossley Park Rangers won 3-2 at Brown Edge.

Luke Harper gave the Congleton side a first-half lead when stabbed home from close range after a ball from the left wing wasn’t cleared and Kyle Mclellan doubled that advantage in the second half.

Brown Edge rallied and reduced the arrears through Adam Griffiths as he scored from the penalty spot with James Hobson levelling soon after.

Both sides pushed for a winner and it was Mossley Park that took the points as a fine through-ball from Josh Clowes saw Harry Seddon race away to find the bottom corner.

Seddon was then sent off for a second yellow card, but the visitors held on.

Butt Lane are up to second thanks to a 3-1 win at Plaza.

Harry Hartley bagged a brace, including a penalty, with Reece Fallows also on target as the visitors went 3-0 up inside 10 minutes.

Plaza grabbed a late consolatio­n through Justin Deakin.

In Division Four, Roaring Meg won 5-4 at home against Breaks Athletic.

Meg took an early lead through Jack Gibbs, but Breaks levelled within three minutes through George Dawson.

The visitors took a 3-1 lead in to the break however as Brad Wainwright scored direct from a corner and Ryan Heery finished off a goalmouth scramble.

Meg came back in the second half with goals from Gibbs and Ben Jackson as they made it 3-3.

Gibbs completed his hat-trick with Ash Coutts also on target for Breaks to leave the game poised at 4-4 before a long throw from Lewis Timony found Sam Breed free at the back post to tap home and

complete the comeback.

Smallthorn­e defeated Chesterton AFC 2-0.

Adam Vickers gave Smallthorn­e the lead in the second half with Tevin Deer making it 2-0 midway through the half.

In Division Five, Athletico returned to winning ways courtesy of a 4-3 home success against Norton Central.

James Makins bagged a brace, with Josh Daniels and Harry Bradbury also on target for Athletico. Jamie Ball and Jake Wood reply for the visitors with an own goal completing the scoring.

Leaders Linley Tavern strolled to a 5-1 away-day victory at Cheadle SMU Reserves.

Sam Bounford bagged a hat-trick - including a 25-yarder to complete his treble - with Tom Shea scoring twice. Jack Day replied for the hosts, but Linley finish the day with an eight-point lead at the top of the table.

Royal Oak put some distance between themselves and the bottom three with a 3-2 win over Furlong Athletic.

Harry Adesida bagged a brace for the visitors, but a Brandon Rafferty hat-trick sealed the points for the hosts.

Moorlands Athletic enjoyed knockout success as they won 7-3 at Locomotive in the third round of the Autonet Insurance League Cup.

Ethan Ansell scored four times with Jack Baker claiming a hattrick. John Baker scored twice for Loco with Rob Hemmings also on target.

Men Unite ran out 3-1 winners at Loggerhead­s.

Loggerhead­s worked hard to restrict their Premier Division opponents and went in at half time a single goal down courtesy of a James Redford goal.

Owen Harrison raced away to make it 2-0 after a ball over the top in the second half and Luke Bourne’s converted penalty made it 3-0.

A late Dan Jones penalty gave the hosts some consolatio­n.

In the second round of the Tatters Trophy, Sumner Athletic won 3-2 at Cat Inn.

A sloppy start from Sumner in their all-division Five clash saw The Cat Inn take the lead within a minute, Nathan Mellor taking full advantage of a poor back pass to score.

Sumner settled and dominated the rest of the half with Cameron Gardiner and Dan Bertram both on target to have the visitors ahead at the interval.

Back came The Cat after the break and Thomas Scragg levelled the match just after the hour mark.

Super sub Conna Brown made a late appearance and set up a winner for Josh Statham.

In round three, FC Robin Hood thrashed Bradwell Developmen­t 7-0.

Rich Birkby scored four times for FC Robin Hood, with Jamal Le Doux, Andy Mayer and Ryland Parkes also on target.

Division Four also beat Division Five at Tunstall Park as Berwick won 7-0 at Green Star.

Scott Wilkes netted twice with six different scorers for the visitors altogether.

FC Lambourne were 13-1 winners at Staffs Vics.

Shotton, Ben Matthews and Josh Clayton with Josh Gill bagging a brace. Kieron Owen and Liam Cope complete the scoring. Simon Worthingto­n grabbed a consolatio­n for the hosts.

Barber Life won 3-1 at home against Newcastle & Hartshill in the TB Williamson second round.

A moment of magic by Nasser Mansour gave Barber Life the lead as he flicked the ball around the defender and fired into the top corner with his left foot.

Newcastle created and missed chances to level in the first half, but did equalise in the second half when Matthew Harrison slotted home.

The visitors looked the more likely to take the lead, but struggled to find the end product and eventually it was the hosts the took the lead against the run of play through an own goal.

Barber Life dug into defend their lead and sealed the win with a late counter attack with a ball over the top that saw Josh Riley race away to make it 3-1.

Third Division Cheadle SMU knock out Division One Congress 3-2.

Congress forced a fine save from the Cheadle keeper as he tipped over for a corner. However, from the corner Cheadle broke away through Ben Cross who produced a fine run and finish for 1-0.

Congress almost levelled just before the interval when the Cheadle keeper was forced into another save with the follow up being cleared off the line.

Congress did level, though, after a long run from Steve Rushton who finished well for 1-1 and buoyed by the goal the hosts played some good football to find Joe Miles who chipped the keeper for 2-1.

Back came Cheadle and Josh Sale made it 2-2 as he pounced on a back pass to score. Sale again scored what proved to be the winner.

Sam Purcell and Ben Hewitt were on target as Mitchells won 2-1 at Doveridge, while Jake Peake’s double helped Royal Oak Harriseahe­ad beat AFC Wolstanton 2-0.

Silverdale are through as they brush aside Tean Rangers from the Uttoxeter League.

Elliot Wilkes opened the scoring with a shot from distance that deceived the keeper. Jordan Kelly finished off a great move for 2-0 and Niall Mcglade finished well from close range for 3-0.

FC Maybank beat The Bear on penalties after a 3-3 draw.

Marc Holmes converted an early penalty, but poor defending gave The Bear an equaliser before Jim Batkin restored the Maybank lead.

Bear levelled again before Matt Rogalski beat the defender before pulling the ball back for Joe Longworth to make it 3-2 to the visitors.

With only a minute left the hosts won a free-kick in the Maybank half and sent everyone forward including the keeper.

The free-kick evaded everyone but The Bear keeper as he seemed to get the last touch for 3-3 and a penalty shoot out. Keeper Scott Davies was the hero in the shootout as he saved two of the Bear spot-kicks and Maybank didn’t miss to go through 4-2 on pens.

Foxley again show their potential with a resounding 7-0 win at White Hart HVPR.

Owen Basford, Matthew Ward and Taylor Attrell all score twice with Regan Lymer also on target.

In the first round of the Sentinel Sunday Cup, Chesterton Bucks beat Congleton Town Colts 3-2.

Congleton Colts opened up a 2-0 lead through Josh Frith and James Reid but Bucks came back in the second half to level the match through Sam Darke and Brad Dawson before a late shot was parried by The Colts keeper and Jazz Douglas was on hand to slam home the winner.

Crescent ran out 6-1 winners at home against Black Cock.

Black Cock were in the game at Premier Division Crescent at the break with Rob Pearson cancelling out the Crescent opener but the hosts eased away in the second half with Liam Tomlin scoring twice.

Holditch Miners’ Bazi Iqbal popped up with an extra time winner against 10 man Stoke Town after the sides were locked at 2-2 during 90 minutes.

Taqib Rangzeb and Serkan Ahmed also scored for the hosts with Aaron Taft and Luke Sorrentino replying for Town but its Miners that go through.

Joe Donaldson and Tom Kirkham were on target as Canal Tavern Kidsgrove won 2-1 at Tean Albion.
