A DISCOUNT store has opened in the former Mr Big Deal shop in Tunstall.

TS Domestics – which offers up to 70 per cent off retail price – opened on Saturday in Dunning Street.

The business was first started by the Peters family after Russell and Julie Peters and their sons Curtis and Luke successfully sold items on ebay.

The family, which initially started selling second-hand clothes, opened their first warehouse in December last year selling kitchen appliances, garden and home furniture and tools.

Curtis, aged 32, said: “This place has been empty the whole time we’ve been here and we’ve always thought about it. We can keep the warehouse upstairs and down here is the shop.

“We build a lot of the furniture and we need the room to display it. We just decided to go for it as we want to bring a bit more life back to Tunstall.”

TS Domestics has created more than 10 jobs, and the shop has new stock twice a week with new, used and refurbished items.

Curtis said: “Some stuff is clearance, or it’s things a customer didn’t want or it might just have a little mark on it. We build a lot of the stuff up so people can see exactly what they’re buying and we do new and refurbished stuff.”

The new showroom will be open from 9am to 6.30pm Monday to Friday, 9am to 4pm on Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sunday.
