Brilliant show from all school’s pupils

-

A LARGE number of people attended the Remembrance Day service at Packmoor Ormiston Academy on November 11.

Some 400 pupils came out of school with their teachers and volunteers to assemble around the millenium green. The service was led by The Reverend Sister Janet Arnold and Pastor Lynn Tindale.

The service was as follows: The act of Remembrance, The Last Post and the exhortation, read by Jack, the Head Pupil. After the two minutes’ silence, Olivia, the deputy head pupil read The Kohima Epitaph.

There followed the laying of wreaths by the Royal British Legion, Grenadier Guards. Royal British Legion Kidsgrove, (MPCT, a military college) and principal Mrs May with the head boy and girl, on behalf of the school.

In Flanders Fields was read by Head Pupil Evie, followed by the Lord’s Prayer and Prayer of Thanksgiving, and the laying down of 11 red balloons by children from Packmoor Ormiston Academy.

I would just like to add the children, who ranged in age from nursery to Year 6, were absolutely brilliant to stand there through the whole service and are a credit to all the teaching staff and helpers. Well done to all.
