£1M TRADE COUNTER OPENS

Revamp of warehouse has taken just under a year to get done

A BUSINESSMAN who started out selling garage doors from his garden shed has opened his third warehouse in Staffordshire.

Richard Lymer launched Lymer Doors from his home in Leek back in 1995, primarily selling, installing and repairing domestic garage doors.

Originally working on his own, it soon became clear that there was quite a lot of demand for the skills and products that Richard was offering. It has now grown to a multi-million pound turnover company.

And this week a new Lymers Building Plastics trade counter opened in Berryhill Road, Fenton, following a £1 million investment. The company already has warehouses on Barnfield Industrial Estate, in Leek, and in Stafford.

Tom Warren, aged 27, of Longton, is the area manager for Lymers. He said: “The new location is central where our customers are. It’s nicer for them to visit a counter a bit closer to home.

“Due to the size of the place we can hold much higher stock than other trade counters can. We are able to keep niche products that other counters would have to order in because we have space for the stock.”

The warehouse was previously used as an ex-cash handling building. Tom said: “We’ve had to take all the walls out inside. It’s taken just under 12 months to get it done.”

The counter is open to tradespeople and the general public. Lymers offers Swish fascia, Rehau windows, rubber roofing, Kayflow rainwater systems, timber, silicone sealants and screws.

Tom added: “The customers are excited to see us open. We’ve been asked about it every week.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming customers new and old to our new venture.”
