SUPER-SLIMMER Angela Coffey has dropped 10 dress sizes and is enjoying major fitness and style boosts – after struggling with her weight for most of her life.

The 52-year-old says she always felt like ‘the fat one’ compared to her two sisters. She hated pictures of herself and would turn down shopping trips with them.

But after years marked by binge eating, fad diets, and dieting groups she turned her life around, shedding four stone through a personalised programme relating to her weight and medical history.

Angela, of Swynnerton, was also prescribed an appetite suppressant when she signed up with the city’s Bodyline Clinic.

“I used to dive straight into a packet of biscuits when I got in, but now I’m eating fruit instead,” she says. “And exercise – well, I was too insecure to walk out of the door, let alone go to the gym.

“But now I’m a different person. I recently walked up Mount Snowdon and completed the Three Peaks Challenge in Yorkshire in September – that’s 24 miles in 12 hours – something I never ever thought I would be able to do.”

“I used to wear black all the time in an effort to look slimmer. Now, my entire wardrobe has completely changed and I actually enjoy choosing clothes. I went shopping with my sisters to a local boutique in the town centre where nothing would have fitted my body before.

“I ended up buying myself a playsuit – something I’ve always wanted to wear but had been too big for. Now I wear it all the time.”

Angela said drinking plenty of water also helped. “That’s one thing I never did before,” she said. “But the nurses really helped and encouraged me to make little changes. Now I don’t go a day without drinking three litres.”

Bodyline chief executive Sally-ann Turner said the Festival Park clinic was used to dealing with customers who believe they have tried everything.

She said: “They’re often at their wits’ end and desperate to make positive changes. They stay with us, not just because our programmes do work quickly and safely, but because they feel supported and part of a community.”

Angela said the ‘whole process has been so easy’ with support from the clinic’s ‘lovely’ nurses.

She added: “When I put a few pounds back on over Christmas they didn’t make me feel guilty, they just helped me get straight back into it.

“I’m incredibly proud of myself and I’m finally in the right mindset. there’s no going back now, not a chance.”
