Scrap the Lords – not the triple lock!
FORMER Tory Chancellor Kenneth Clarke, below, in a recent TV interview, called for the scrapping of the pensioners’ triple lock, which, he implied, has this year proven too generous and unaffordable for the Government.
He claimed there was far fewer really needy pensioners and that the extra addition to their pension was extra pocket money and that any needy pensioners could claim other benefits.
Is he right? Scrapping the triple lock will certainly cost the Conservative Party any chance of winning the next election.
I have an alternative suggestion Ken, why don’t we scrap the House of Lords?
I am sure many people believe the stories of the attenders’ daily allowance used as pocket money.
Scrapping the House of Lords, of which Ken is a member, could provide a useful windfall for the Government albeit depriving many of a lucrative day out in London with their chums and pocket
money provided.
