£1M ARTS AND CULTURE PROJECT NAMES CREATIVE DIRECTOR
AN ambitious £1m arts project has appointed a creative director.
Outside – a project running in the Staffordshire Moorlands – has named Sarah Bird in the new role.
The programme aims to shape and create local, national and international arts and culture in the area.
It has been awarded a grant of almost £1m by Arts Council England.
Now Sarah – who has joined from festival organiser Wild Rumpus – is keen to get started. Sarah, pictured, said: “I’m phenomenally excited and privileged to have this opportunity to help bring about a programme of creative activities that will inspire us, bring us together and teach us about ourselves and the world.
“I sincerely believe in the power of arts and culture to enrich lives and move people in profound ways wherever they are – and I’m excited about working with the brilliant artists in the area as well as inviting worldrenowned artists to join us.”
The project is a partnership of four organisations led by Support Staffordshire and including Staffordshire Moorlands District Council, Buxton and Leek College and Stoke-based arts charity B Arts.
A taster workshop will be held at Cheadle Library on Saturday between 12.30pm and 2.30pm.
