Meditation could help combat Alzheimer’s in older adults, a study has suggested.

During research at Caennormandy University, 147 participants were recruited for a skills test.

A third were taught meditation, a third learned a foreign language, and the rest were a control group so did neither.

The meditation group showed increased awareness, attention span and emotional health, compared with the other two groups. These are the cognitive factors that are most affected by Alzheimer’s disease.

The researchers now hope to pinpoint which types of meditation are best for older adults to learn.
