FIRE SERVICE HAS RECIPE TO SAVE YOU MONEY
STAFFORDSHIRE Fire and Rescue Service and Staffordshire County Council are helping families beat the cost-of-living crisis – by delivering slow-cookers and recipes.
The authority is delivering the pots to eligible families in Newcastle, while the fire service has produced a series of recipe cards for affordable meals.
It is part of the council’s ‘Here to Help’ campaign aimed at providing information, advice and support on managing ongoing cost of living pressures and the fire service’s ‘Be warm. Be safe’ campaign.
The recipes have been devised by the fire service’s catering supervisor,
Stephen Pickerin, and include recipes for beef stew and dumplings, chicken curry and chilli con carne.
Carmel Warren, Partnership and Intervention Manager at Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service, said: “We hope the recipes we’ve provided will help families with their budgeting.
“The recipes we have put together are affordable, easy-to-make and nourishing to help keep people warm.”
County Councillor Mark Sutton, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People said: “Getting support early can make a big difference.”
