‘ROAD FLOODS PRETTY BADLY AND IT NEEDS SORTING OUT’
Call for action after latest accident
FAMILIES are demanding action to improve safety on an accidentplagued road - before someone is killed.
Blackbank Road, in Knutton, has been the scene of several car accidents over the years and is also prone to flooding.
It comes as two-way temporary traffic lights are currently in place due to the latest flooding on the road. They are expected to remain until December 9.
The latest crash happened on Thursday, November 18.
Natalie Carter, who lives on Blackbank Road, said: “The road does flood pretty badly and does need sorting. I know there have been a few bad crashes.”
Jake Hall added “It’s so bad down here. Cars speed down here and when the road floods it becomes even worse. The road always seems to be flooding. Somebody is going to get killed one day.”
Staffordshire County Council is responsible for Blackbank Road.
Councillor David Williams, cabinet member for highways and transport, said: “All reported highways issues are inspected as soon as possible and assessed for their severity. Any issues which pose an immediate risk are dealt with as a priority.
“If the flooding issue has been reported this will be inspected and prioritised accordingly.”
