‘We don’t know about you but we’re feeling 22 is the perfect number for our new barber’s!’

Brothers join forces for shop after clairvoyant reveals lucky number

- Yasmin Sarwar newsdesk@thesentinel.co.uk

TWO brothers have opened their own barbershop – after some spooky coincidences surrounding their ‘lucky number’ 22.

Oliver and Charlie Doorbar have founded The Doorbarbers 22 at 22, The Lea in Trentham.

It opened its doors on April 22 – after they bought the premises off a hairdresser whose birthday was on the 22nd.

The coincidences follow a prediction from a clairvoyant 20 years ago who repeatedly insisted to Oliver and Charlie’s mum, Christine Doorbar, that she kept seeing the number 22.

When she told Charlie, then aged just seven, he told her that it was Oliver’s lucky number, as he would often randomly see the number whether it was displayed on a clock or a watch, or elsewhere.

Now the brothers have coincidentally been given the keys to number 22 in The Lea.

Charlie said: “Me and Ol have been barbering since we left school. I remember Ol doing it as an apprenticeship, and I was in Year 9 at the time, and we had the name ‘The Doorbarbers’ since back then.

“We were originally supposed to move into number 26, but the owner of number 22 at the time was a hairdresser, and she didn’t want us to move in.

“Two weeks later, Ol had a call from the lady who’d originally objected to us being neighbours, and she offered us her shop – which was number 22.

“We were waiting for the shop for about 10 months, and we got the keys in January this year. We’ve done a full refurb inside.

“We had a vision of what we wanted, so we’ve done it up to the standards we wanted which was really important to us.

“So it was decided that we’d open up on the 22nd to carry on the number 22 theme.

“It’s been pretty busy so far because we advertised the opening on Instagram and we have a large customer base in Trentham, so it’s convenient for them to come to our new shop.”

Christine added: “Oliver and Charlie are both barbers and were working in different shops, and last year they decided it was time to have their own shop.

“They said, ‘Right mum we need you to find a shop and we need it in Trentham’. Easier said than done. I searched and found an ad for a shop in Trentham. The shop was number 26.

“Everything was all going ahead, but then next-door-but-one – which was a hairdresser – didn’t want a barbershop to open.

“We tried to explain that barbers today are totally different but she still disagreed. So we had to start looking for another shop and we just said, ‘well it mustn’t have meant to be’.

“A couple of weeks later, Oliver finished his working day, walking towards his car which was covered in bird muck, he said to himself, I’d better get my car cleaned but thought ‘No, muck for luck.’

“As soon as he said those words, his mobile rang and it was the lady from the hairdresser (number 22) offering Oliver the shop.

“It was unbelievable. We were all in shock but very happy. So shop 22 stopped them but then came back to them.

“We went to view the shop and met the hairdresser.

“We told her the story and she replied that her birthday was the 22nd.

“When we were cleaning the shop I found an old rusty black coin which you couldn’t see what was on it so I took it home, cleaned it and it was farthing, made in 1922. So now we understand why the clairvoyant lady kept seeing 22.”

The number 22 is believed to be an angel number, representing strength, power, and resilience.

It is said to be a ‘master number’, and is a sign of guidance and positivity in a person’s life.
