GREAT SCOTT BLASTS A FINE CENTURY TO SET UP RODE PARK TRIUMPH

SCOTT Cheadle hit the ton trail as Rode Park & Lawton produced a dominant display to beat Woore seconds in NSSCL Division Six.

Cheadle smashed a runa-ball 107, featuring 12 fours and one six, as Rode Park & Lawton amassed a mammoth 267-5 from their 40 overs.

Rhys Chambers (47), Dan Archer (34) and Andrew Marshall (31) were also in good form with the bat for the visitors.

Molly Ferneyhough was the pick of the Woore attack, taking a couple of wickets. In reply, Andrew Burton (15), John Tellwright (14) and Charles Weaver (10) made the most noteworthy contributions, but Woore were dismissed for 67. Adam Fenn (3-10) and Peyton Hulme (3-11) both took three wickets and there was a double strike from Joel Gallimore. Newcastle & Hartshill thirds were eight-wicket winners on their trip to Blythe seconds. Castle were set 116 to win - and eased past the post with more than four overs in the tank.

Vinnie Purcell timed the chase perfectly with an unbeaten 67, which featured eight fours. Ethan Gater lent support with 35. Earlier in the day, experienced campaigner Andrew Keates helped himself to 5-10 to limit Blythe to 115-9 from their allocation.

Deacon Purcell weighed in with a couple of wickets, while Jonathan Dreher (29no) and Qmer Ikram (26) impressed with the bat. Whitmore thirds started the season with a five-wicket triumph at Endon seconds. Endon managed to make their way to 118 all out on the back of Peter Slinn’s 28 and 25 from Simon Fox. Nilantha Aluthge (3-18) fronted the Whitmore bowling performance, backed up by two wickets apiece for Dinesh Weerasinghe Mudalige and Sudath Illeperuma. Whitmore had few concerns in knocking off the runs as Sampath Dassanayake made 35 not out and Illeperuma added 29. Alex Ravenscroft took two wickets.

Nantwich thirds edged out their Meakins counterparts by nine runs in their meeting.

The Dabbers took first use and compiled 129-7 by the halfway point.

James Michell (49), Callum Pearson (30) and Robert Howell (27no) showed some good early-season form. Saif Shakir and Abdullar Hashi shared four of the wickets to fall.

Jake Coxon (19) was one of six Meakins batsmen to reach double figures in their run chase.

But it wasn’t quite enough as Meakins were dismissed for 120 with little more than two overs remaining. Pearson capped a fine individual day with 3-11, backed up by Jack Jarvis, Adam Darlington and Jacob Howell’s double strikes. Oakamoor thirds started their summer with a win as they returned from Moddershall & Oulton sixths with the points. Half-centuries from Jonathan Wood and Jacob Fullick formed the backbone of Oakamoor’s 203-4. Wood, pictured, hit five fours in his 69, while Fullick’s 62 not out contained six boundaries. Luke Walker built on their fine work with an undefeated 38.

The Modd side were then restricted to 121-4 in their response.

James Baxter made 53 not out, hitting three fours, with Paul Jackson contributing 37. Jack Day claimed two wickets.
