GREENHOFFS IN SEVENTH HEAVEN AS THEY PUT CANAL TAVERN TO SWORD IN THEIR BID FOR PREMIER TITLE GLORY

- Chris Travers Coors League

GREENHOFFS stole a march in the Premier Division promotion race with a 7-1 victory over Canal Tavern Kidsgrove which turns the goal difference in their favour.

Jimmy Garlick bagged a hat-trick with Kyle Diskin and Jake Alcock both scoring twice. Joe Donaldson netted a consolation effort for Tavern.

Men Unite are level on points as they edged past Loggerheads by a single Ash Colclough goal in the first half.

Loggerheads’ defeat confirms relegation after just one season in the top flight.

Wood Lane are on course for a third-placed finish after a 5-2 win against Barber Life leaves them in pole position to overtake the visitors with three games remaining.

Barber Life end their top-flight debut with defeat but they can look back on their efforts with some satisfaction.

Callum Middleton scored a hat-trick for Wood Lane with Dan Lancett and Kingsley Adu Gyamfi also on target.

Archie Ellams and Callum Collis replied for Barber Life.

In Division One, leaders Cuckoo fall to a shock defeat at home to relegation-threatened Stoke Town at Staffs University.

Town, who were bottom of the table, fell behind to a Jharell Williams header in the second half, but the visitors levelled instantly through Harry Larkin and the same player made it 2-1.

Luca Sorentino scored a belter from just inside his own half with shades of David Beckham to make it 3-1.

Cuckoo did rally and pull a goal back through Shane Potts, but Stoke Town hung on for a vital three points that lifts them off the bottom of the table and denies Cuckoo promotion.

Redgate beat Newcastle and Hartshill 6-3 to put some daylight between themselves and the bottom two.

Sam Finney and Joel Everill both scored twice with Jack Finney and Charlie Batho also on target.

The wheels have fallen off for Newcastle who now must win at least three of their last four games to have any chance of promotion.

Alex Saunders, Alex Worrall and Ben Glover all scored, but it’s six straight defeats for them now.

Shamblers dropped to the bottom of the table despite a last-minute

equaliser saving a point for them at home to Royal Furlong.

A fine free-kick from Tom Raketic put Royal Furlong ahead but Cameron Cammillaire’s late strike made it 1-1.

Vale Hoppers finished their home campaign with a 1-0 defeat to Ashwood.

Joe Gosling deflected a shot over his keeper in the second half to move Ashwood into the top four.

In Division Two, champions FC Maybank keep churning out the wins as they beat promotion chasing Mitchells 5-1.

Jamie Kempson bagged another two goals with Joe Longworth, Connor Thomas and an own goal completing the scoring.

With one league game to go Maybank are unbeaten in 17 games with two trophies so far and a cup final to come.

Mitchells can still follow them into Division One, but trail Coach & Congleton by three points. Ben Hewitt scored their consolation.

Cup Finalists Royal Oak were held by a much-improved Foxley side as they drew 1-1.

A James Booth penalty gave the hosts a first-half lead with Alex Jackson levelling for the visitors before half-time.

Oak can still be promoted, but

they need to turn these draws into wins in their last four games to stand any chance.

In Division Three, Audley hit top spot with a hectic 5-4 win over those great entertainers Mossley Park.

Audley need to win their last game to guarantee promotion.

A Josh Rhodes brace set them on their way to victory by the odd goal in nine.

Jack Barlow, Aaron Evans and Jamie Wright all chipped in, although Mossley were back to their swashbuckling style of attack is the best form of defence which always makes for a spectacle.

Alex Richardson scored twice with Matt Williams and Matt Churchill also on target.

Bellringer could still go up after they hammered Butt Lane 6-0, but it would take a strange series of results and scores.

Jamie Nejrup and a brace from Kiru Assgeid had them 3-0 up before Sam Turvey, Liam Peters and Ash Emery all got in on the act.

Abbey Hulton were denied a strong shout for a penalty in the first half of their game at Roaring Meg and had to scramble a 1-1 draw in the end which leaves them no more margin for error in their last three games if they are to win the title.

Meg took the lead in the first five minutes after a mazy run and finish from Liam Rushton and despite heavy pressure from the visitors the home side held on until Lewis Holdham continued his amazing run by slamming home the equaliser after a scramble in the box.

Chesterton AFC all but confirmed runners-up spot in Division Four with a 3-1 win over Gatehouse Clayton.

Only a huge win for Plaza in their last game can deny them a cup and promotion double.

Gatehouse took the lead through Joe Miles at Fenton Park only for a superb strike by Jack Mcdonald to bring the visitors level before the break.

He teed himself up before unleashing a volley over the keeper from 30 yards.

They took the lead after the interval with a Charlie Rodgers strike that went through the keeper and into the top corner.

Rich Owen added a third to almost start the promotion party for Chesterton.

Crown Talke will just fall short of promotion this time around as they beat struggling Linley Tavern 11-2.

Billy Heeks and Tom Farr both scored hat-tricks with Josh Smith and Tom Kelly scoring twice.

Finn Smith bagged two for Linley as they kept going with only 10 men, but a Liam Bould strike for Crown completed the rout.

The final game of the Division Five season saw runners-up Newcastle Mona beat Norton Central 5-0.

An own goal separated the sides at the interval, but goals from Steve Robinson, who scored twice, Josh Draycott and Aiden Cumberbatch

saw Mona win the second half with ease.

In Division Six, Jug Reserves become the only team to beat Ye Olde Crown in the league this season.

Jug opened the scoring when a long throw from Elliot Lockett was

brushed home by the slightest touch of the forehead of Jack Davies.

Jug were dominant in the opening half-hour and struck the post through Joe Kay.

The lead was doubled soon after as another long throw found Davies

to feet and he turned to finish well past the keeper for 2-0.

Crown rallied and won a penalty with regular keeper Leo Osbourne stepping off the bench to take and score from the spot.

The second half was more even but Jug still had the better chances.
