BALL HAYE GREEN PRODUCE FINE PERFORMANCE TO BANK TOP-FLIGHT VICTORY

-

BALL Haye Green defeated Milton United 3-1 in their Staffs County Senior League Premier Division home clash.

First-half goals from James Halfpenny and Josh Oultram set hosts Ball Haye Green well on their way.

Kallan Humphries-shutt added a third for Green in the 68th minute, before a late Milton goal courtesy of Josh Thorley only served as a consolation.

Kieran Mear’s AFC Alsager salvaged a late point against former champions Wolstanton courtesy of a 90th-minute Ronan Milner strike in their last game of the campaign.

George Shaw had given Stant the lead a minute into the second half. Allan Davies’ Silverdale Athletic edged out Rugeley-based Brereton

Social by the odd goal in seven at Kents Lane.

Aaron Johns bagged a first-half brace for Dale with Jack Barlow also on target before half-time. In the second half, Jon Hughes netted yet another after his recent return to the side.

In Division One, Foley Meir 433 won 8-1 against Brereton Social Reserves, who themselves still have two games to play. Audley Development went goal crazy in Division Two North when they entertained Ben Cooke’s Staffordshire Victoria at Town Fields.

Jamie Wright scored a first-half hat-trick for the hosts, Philip Farr a brace in the same period with doubles also coming from Lewis Townsend and Nwaobilor Ananaba. Jamie Harley and Jack Dixon were also on the mark in an 11-3 win. Cannock Dynamos extended their lead at the summit of Division Two South to five points after their latest victory which was by the odd goal in five away at the Shenstone Country Club where they narrowly beat Three Spires United.

The prolific Hugh Burrows notched a hat-trick for Dynamos in the encounter.

In the Leek Cup quarter-finals, Redgate Clayton won 3-1 at Madeley White Star. Madeley, marshalled by former Redgate Clayton man Chris Holmes saw his son Matt, in the opposition goal, beaten by a 34th-minute Adam Jones screamer that flew into the top corner of the Gate net. As in recent times when Redgate have fallen behind, they find a way through and in the 47th minute

Dan Holdcroft beat the offside trap and raced clear to coolly fire home the equaliser.

Five minutes later Dave Ashley once again popped up with an all-important header to put the visitors in front and on 68 minutes Harry Baggaley fired home a third from long range.

The game got a little heated in the closing stages with White Star reduced to 10 men when Josh Glover received a second yellow card. Cup shock of the day saw Division One promotion hopefuls Leek Town Development knock Rocester out of the competition 2-1.

Both Town goals came from Tim Grice. Alfie Lawrie netted the consolation goal.

In the Macron Trophy semi-finals, AFC Crewe won 3-1 at Newcastle Town Reserves.

The South Cheshire outfit will now face either Leek Town Development or Keele University in the final. In the Challenge Cup semi-finals, Cresswell Wanderers Reserves won 2-0 at Eastwood Hanley Reserves, while Newhall United beat Leek CSOB Reserves.
