TRENTHAM TO HONOUR 999 CREWS – AND DOUGIE MAC!
Event for attraction’s 20th anniversary
VISITORS will help an attraction mark its 20th anniversary by celebrating the emergency services and raising cash to help hospice patients.
Trentham Estate is offering free entry to the gardens – with a £1 booking fee – on May 18 at its Emergency Services Community Day.
The event, featuring emergency services demonstrations as well as fairground rides and boat and train rides, will raise funds for the Dougie Mac. Entertainment will include live music and dance performances.
Visitors can also see Bobie the remote-controlled police car, sit in a real police vehicle and fire engine, and meet emergency service mascots.
Trentham senior director Alastair Budd, above, said: “We are thrilled to celebrate our milestone birthday by throwing open our doors to thousands of people to enjoy all that Trentham has to offer, perhaps for their first time.
“We are proud to be sharing this exciting day with so many important community organisations, it’s a fantastic chance for us to thank those organisations and celebrate what makes Staffordshire great.” Dougie Mac’s head of business and community fundraising Deborah Vickers added: “This is going to be a fantastic opportunity to raise money for our charity while celebrating 20 years of Trentham and our local community. Dougie Mac provides hospice services free of charge to over 3,500 local people with life-limiting illnesses each year in Stoke-on-trent, North Staffordshire and the surrounding villages.”
■ The event runs from 10am-5pm. Tickets go on sale to non-members at 10am today. Organisers say booking is essential. The £1 booking fee includes a 70p donation to Dougie Mac. Tickets are available from the Trentham website or its visitor centre.
