Oc­cu­py­ing a four-storey Ge­or­gian­fronted build­ing, The Ham­ble­don has been de­scribed as Winch­ester’s an­swer to Lib­erty. It sells women’s and men’s fash­ion and, in the base­ment, homeware – in­clud­ing Art Deco can­dle­sticks, £19.95, in fab­u­lous shades and shapes, hand­made in Por­tu­gal, and cush­ions, £65, and tea tow­els, £15, by print­maker Kiran Rav­il­ious. There is also a bath and beauty de­part­ment and, at the rear of the build­ing, sta­tionery, books and a project space that houses tem­po­rary ex­hi­bi­tions and col­lab­o­ra­tions.
