ROGER DE LA FRESNAYE, MARRIED LIFE (1912)

The Simple Things - - THINK -

Roger de la Fresnaye was the aristocratic son of a French army officer, who moved in Cubist art circles (or should that be squares?). This scene of married life perhaps doesn’t express a female view of matrimony, but details such as the books piled on their table introduce a sense of humanity into a very modern image. © Minneapolis Institute of Art, The John R Van Derlip Fund and Thames & Hudson
