NORTHERN SOUL
Norwegian comfort food in North Wild Kitchen by Nevada Berg
After years of nomadic travelling, Nevada Berg longed for “a home and a community to be rooted in”, and found herself “deep in the belly of Norway”, where, with her family, she bought a mountain farm. She fell in love with the landscape, the local produce and the old traditions, and this lovely cookery book celebrates the history and stories behind the food. There’s wild garlic soup, beer-battered spruce tips with syrup and rustic savoury pear tart. Reindeer stew is on the menu, too, as well as ember-grilled leeks and blueberry marshmallows to eat around the fire.
