After years of no­madic trav­el­ling, Ne­vada Berg longed for “a home and a com­mu­nity to be rooted in”, and found her­self “deep in the belly of Nor­way”, where, with her fam­ily, she bought a moun­tain farm. She fell in love with the land­scape, the lo­cal pro­duce and the old tra­di­tions, and this lovely cook­ery book cel­e­brates the his­tory and sto­ries be­hind the food. There’s wild gar­lic soup, beer-bat­tered spruce tips with syrup and rus­tic savoury pear tart. Rein­deer stew is on the menu, too, as well as ember-grilled leeks and blue­berry marsh­mal­lows to eat around the fire.
