Spiced or­ange whisky

Time to pre­pare: 10 mins Leave to in­fuse: at least a month

Peel from 1 un­waxed or­ange 8 cloves 1 cin­na­mon stick 3 star anise 500ml good qual­ity Scotch whisky

1 Have a large, clean stor­age jar with a tight-seal lid ready. Peel the or­ange and place the peel, along with the spices, in the bot­tom of the jar.

2 Add the whisky, stir to sub­merge and mix. Seal the lid and store the jar in a cool, dark place for one month.

3 Taste af­ter a month and, if happy, strain out the peel and spices, wash the jar and re­turn the whisky to it or de­cant into clean bot­tles to give as gifts. For a stronger flavour, con­tinue to in­fuse and test every few days. »
