WHEN THE IDEAL DOG- WALKING BOOT DIDN’T EXIST, TRAILBACK FOUNDER SANDY WALLIS SET ABOUT CREATING HER OWN

-

The Trailback boot was conceived when Sandy Wallis was searching high and low for a good pair of boots for walking her Rhodesian Ridgeback dog, Roscoe. When her quest proved fruitless, she set about designing and manufacturing her own brand of ideal footwear.

“It was hard to find a suitable boot that would keep my feet warm and dry on long walks,” she explains. Wellies, she found uncomfortable over long distances and hiking boots were no match for deep muddy puddles. “I ended up wearing an old pair of safety rigger boots I found in my shoe cupboard. They were waterproof and although they were heavy with steel safety features, they were comfortable enough to walk all day in.”

The idea was based upon the working boots worn by the North Sea Oil riggers, suitable for both men and women. “I thought the riggers were really fantastic and they inspired me to make my own ‘off rig’ version

– the Trailback.”

A walking boot, handcrafted in Spain, fully waterproof and Goodyear welted. The boot features SympaTex – German waterproof membrane technology – and the internationally acclaimed Italian Vibram commando sole, which is ideal for hiking. Sandy says, “We are very proud that our boots are handcrafted in Spain and have been designed and developed using expert European minds. We are also proud to be a new British brand of footwear.”

Roscoe, meanwhile, has secured his place in the Trailback journey as his sleek and distinctive silhouette is the company logo, emblazoned across all products and packaging.
