SNUG

-

This month we’re contemplating the meaning of ‘snug’, as in ‘as snug as a bug in a rug.’ Thought to stem from a naval term, ‘snug’ referred to the neatness and tightness of a ship that is seaworthy but came to be associated more with cosiness and warmth; the moment in the night when you wake and hear a storm but are warm under your blankets, the feeling of putting on thick socks, warm from the Aga or airing cupboard. Or wearing a warm woolly hat and gloves when you’re out in the cold. Spend a few moments considering what ‘snug’ means to you and how you might welcome that feeling more into your life this month.
