The Almanac: A Seasonal Guide to 2021
Lia Leendertz’s lovely almanac encourages us to celebrate the unfolding year, month by month as nature changes, animals migrate and food comes into season. Moon phases, sunrise and sunset and tidal timetables are set alongside hedgerow and field recipes – including Potato, sorrel and Cornish yarg pasties;
Saffron, pickled nasturtiums, wild greens and dandelion leaves. There are pilgrimage suggestions, ancient sites to visit and sea shanties to sing as we head into the garden to broadcast seeds, neaten up beds, prune trees and pop in new plants to herald the start of a hopeful new year.
