Remember you may still need to book a pitch though. l There are house swap sites for finding people to switch homes for holidays, but if you have friends living in other parts of the country, how about an informal house swap? l If almost-wild camping is still too much like roughing it for you, glamping, in the form of yurts, canvas ‘lodges’, shepherd’s huts, roundhouses or converted vehicles, could be the answer, especially if booking outside of school holidays. l If you really have run out of options, get a group of friends together, all pitch your tents at the home of whoever has the biggest garden, and make it special.
