The Simple Things
A HIKING KIT
We’re packing using mountaineering.scot’s kit list. You’ll need a waterproof jacket and trousers, and boots with a good grip. Wear with non-cotton bottoms and a fleece and thermal layer on top (and pop a clean set and extra socks into your rucksack). Remember extra layers, gloves and a hat, even if it's sunny, and sunblock, even when overcast. Then it’s a compass, watch and map, along with a head torch. Food and water is essential, as is a whistle, small first aid kit, mobile phone and an emergency survival bag. And, if you do make it to Scotland this summer, don’t forget the all-important midge repellent.
