The Joneses
Film4, 11.40pm
When a seemingly perfect family moves into a community, they instantly arouse the envy of all their neighbours. However, the newcomers have been purposely placed for that reason – they are a living exercise in product placement, designed to drive those around them into a frenzy of jealous consumption. David Duchovny, Demi Moore and Johnny Depp’s new fiancee, Amber Heard, star in this fascinating dark comedy.
BBC4, 9pm
Made In Dagenham is being made into a musical, opening in London’s West End in October and starring Gemma Arterton in the lead role. The film certainly gives it a groundswell of goodwill to tap into. From the director of Calendar Girls, it tells of a group of sewing machinists at an Essex car factory who went on strike in 1968 over pay, a dispute which ended with the introduction of the Equal Pay Act.
BBC1, 11.15pm (BBC Scotland, 12.15am)
Sci-fi action thriller set in the near future, where people live in isolation and interact with the outside world through surrogate robot doubles. When a murder threatens the tranquillity, however, an FBI agent must venture into the real world to investigate. Bruce Willis stars in this disappointing adaptation of the Robert Venditti comic book series.
ITV2, 8pm
Steve Carell could have told Russell Crowe it’s best not to muck around with the legend of Noah. Yet it wasn’t religious groups who had a problem with this very loose interpretation of the Biblical tale but anyone who likes their comedies to have a laugh or two. God appears before a sceptical congressman to tell him to build an ark capable of withstanding a mighty flood (of criticism as it turned out).
5USA, 10pm
Made-for-TV chiller about a woman and her two daughters who fear their new house is haunted. Researching past owners, they discover that a young woman that lived there went missing in the 1950s. Jeri Ryan, who played Seven of Nine in Star Trek: Voyager, and Marianne Jean-Baptiste, who was Brenda Blethyn’s illegitimate daughter in Secrets & Lies, star.

The Raid
Film4, 11.20pm
An Indonesian action movie directed by a man from Wales is probably not a combination that will have you putting off your bedtime but, if you like your films to be adrenaline filled, Gareth Evans’ shoot ’em up is worth the lost sleep. An elite special forces team receive orders to put an end to a crime lord’s rule in a slum area of Jakarta. From the very start it’s clear this is going to be no easy task.
