PARTICK THISTLE are trawling football’s bargain basement to try to avoid another battle against the drop.

The Jags fielded halfa- dozen trialists during this draw.

Former Scotland centre- back Darren Barr looks most likely to be offered a deal at the moment.

He would replace Lee Mair, who marshalled the home defence in this warm-up match.

Former Crystal Palace left- back Matt Parsons lined up alongside Barr during the first half before being replaced by former Wigan defender Jordan Mustoe.

Both men are potential replacements for Aaron Taylor- Sinclair, who left for the Latics during the summer.

One-time Gretna midfielder Abdul Osman showed up well during his 45-minute outing.

There were also appearances by 26-yearold Algerian midfielder Hamza Bencherif and To g o striker Ka l e n Damessi.

Thistle manager Alan Archibald said: “A few of the trialists are here for a couple of days and some are just here for the day.

“It’s a hard market. Everybody is looking for the same players and we are competing with an English market that can afford a lot more than ourselves.”

Bryan Prunty scored for Dumbarton just two minutes after coming on when he headed home a Jordan Kirkpatrick cross.

New signing Ryan Stevenson equalised for Thistle when a shot from 20 yards took a wicked deflection and spun over the keeper’s head.
