Made for TV sci-fi disaster movie starring Jack Coleman, who viewers over 40 may remember as the second incarnation of Steven Carrington in Dynasty. Here he’s a scientist who discovers that the planet’s magnetic poles have shifted 10 degrees after a collision with a comet. The only way to save his wife and teenage son – not to mention the rest of the human race – is to try to realign the Earth’s axis with strategically-placed nuclear weapons.

Home Improvement made Tim Allen a big star with TV audiences in America in the 1990s but his attempts to turn that into film fame fell flat. In this movie he plays a Wall Street high-flyer who discovers he has a teenage son (played by 14-year-old Sam Huntington, who can now be seen in the US version of Being Human) who has been living with the indigenous people of the South American jungle.

Willy Wonka had his golden ticket but Las Vegas casino owner Donald P. Sinclair (John Cleese) has a golden idea that he thinks will make him rich beyond imagination. Anyone who receives a lucky gold token from one of his slot machines will be entitled to enter a race across America with a $2 million first prize. With no rules in place, the event is open to all kinds of skullduggery. Rowan Atkinson and Whoopi Goldberg also star.
