Jim can’t wait to play his part at Palace bash

“It was seeing the atmospheri­c images from Karl Lagerfeld’s Chanel show at Linlithgow Palace a couple of years ago that convinced me it would be only a matter of time before someone would come up with the idea of using the historical site as the background to an open air music festival.

“I’m delighted it has come to pass this year and I am even more delighted that Simple Minds will have the honour of being involved in what will inevitably be the highlight of our touring activities this summer.”

He’s also pleased to see such a strong line-up of Scottish talent.

“Scotland had produced an abundance of remarkable music over the decades and we look forward to playing alongside many of the artists who have contribute­d to that at this event,” he said.

As to what the audience can expect from the Glasgow band’s set at Linlithgow Palace?

“Well, of course, we will play all the big hits, those that are received ecstatical­ly night after night as we continue to tour the world.

“But we will also be choosing songs from throughout our career, from the first album all the way up to the current one.

“Simple Minds try to never play the exact same set twice – we always look to add the odd surprise.

“Playing in Scotland is always amongst the highlights of any tour.”
