- By Myra Philp

THE four- year- old twin sister of tragic Mikaeel Kular is at the centre of a bitter tug-of-love battle.

The little girl’s grandad Ahmed Saeed believes it is in Ashika’s “best interests” that she goes to live with him.

But his son Zahid, who fathered the twins while having an affair with killer mum Rosdeep Adekoya, left, is also demanding custody. Heartbroken Ahmed said: “My whole family do not believe my son is capable of looking after

Ashika with the life he has got.”

MIKAEEL KULAR’S heartbroken grandfather is locked in a bitter battle with his son for custody of the dead toddler’s twin sister, Ashika.

Ahmed Saeed, whose son Zahid, 30, fathered the twins while having an affair with killer mum Rosdeep Adekoya, believes he is the only one who can provide a stable haven for the victim’s sibling Ashika, 4.

Speaking exclusively to The Sunday Post the 63- year- old revealed the true extent of the rift that has rocked the family.

Last night, holding back the tears, he revealed: “My whole family do not believe my son is capable of looking after Ashika with the life he has got. He is not settled enough. Of course everyone has their own opinion on these things.

“Zahid is going through the courts, but I am of another generation where the communities discuss these things.

“I am in my second marriage and I have a daughter who is just two-and-a-half, so it would be easier for her to be brought up with me.

“The two girls could be friends and grow up together. That’s my intention.

“Zahid is not very keen, he disagrees, because he wants her himself. My son and I are not speaking because of this.”

On Friday, Adekoya admitted subjecting defenceless Mikaeel to a savage beating after he was sick following a family meal at a restaurant.

The 34-year-old then hid his body in a suitcase and dumped it while thousands searched for the missing boy.

Prosecutors accepted her guilty plea to the reduced charge of culpable homicide.

Yesterday, in his general store in Kirkcaldy, Fife, Ahmed revealed he and his son were no longer on speaking terms.

He said: “I knew he had twins and he never stopped seeing their mother.

“But I did not know who she was, or what their names were. I never met Mikaeel.

“My son had a wife, and two daughters with her. I told him he had to stay with her and forget the other woman – or go to the other woman. He could not have both. But he did not agree.”

Ahmed revealed his son continued seeing Rosdeep and was in touch with her by text while she was systematically battering the defenceless three-year-old.

He said: “He never stopped seeing her. I understand she was trying to get in touch with him when this was happening. He was getting text messages from her on January 13.”

Ahmed relived the moment he first saw an image of Mikaeel – in the hands of police officers who came to his shop in St Clair Street, Kirkcaldy.

He said: “They showed me the picture, told me he was missing and asked if I knew him. I told them I did not. But he is the image of his father. I told them I did not know his name, my son kept it secret from me.”

When the news of Mikaeel’s death broke Ahmed begged his
