STIRLING UNI moved into second place in the Lowland League but they could manage only a 1-1 draw away to the fast improving CUMBERNAUL­D COLTS. They are 17 points behind leaders Edinburgh City and now have just four games in hand. Stirling led right up to stoppage time despite being down to 10 men when George Leigh was red-carded in the 71st minute. Chris Geddes put them ahead in the 29th minute and deep into stoppage time Andrew Selkirk fired home Colts’ equaliser.

GALA FAIRYDEAN ROVERS ended a losing streak with a narrow 2-1 win over injury-hit DALBEATTIE STAR, where Gala keeper Mark Wilson had to bring off some great saves in the last 20 minutes. Taylor Hope fired the Fairies into a 25th-minute lead and they went two up when Scott Main netted in a goalmouth scramble after an hour. Star’s Lewis Sloan scrambled one back in the 69th minute.

GRETNA 2008 got a 2-1 win over THREAVE ROVERS. Rovers stay firmly anchored at the bottom and had Scott Wilby sent off in the 76th minute. Earlier on, Connor Liddell gave Gretna a secondminu­te lead and he doubled the score in 34 minutes. Threave pulled one back in stoppage time through Danny Dunglinson.

In the SFA South Challenge Cup, EDINBURGH CITY beat EAST KILBRIDE 1-0 in extra time, goal ace Ross Allum getting the winner.

SPARTANS also got through to the semi-final stage with a 4-0 win over BSC GLASGOW, with Dean Horribine continuing his goal spree with a brace and two more from Jamie Dishington and George Hunter.

EDUSPORT ACADEMY were also taken to extra time by CIVIL SERVICE STROLLERS but won 1-0.
