Pep pipping Jose is down to one player

-

ALL neutral football fans should be grateful to Claudio Ranieri.

Thanks to the Italian leading Leicester City to an incredible title win last season, we’re now looking forward to the most exciting Premier League for years.

I can’t remember when I was last as thrilled at the prospect of a new season being upon us. But I have bad news for the Foxes’ fans. I just can’t see them achieving back-to-back championships.

It’s difficult to pick a winner because so much has changed over the summer.

But I believe the title will be a straight fight between the Manchester clubs.

There’s an incredible buzz about City and United now that Pepe Guardiola and Jose Mourinho are in charge.

They won’t have it all their own way, but it looks like they will have the strongest squads over the course of the season. Koeman can do some quick business in the transfer market.

At the other end of the table, I think it will be very difficult for the promoted clubs.

Indeed, I don’t give Hull City any chance of survival. They were doomed as soon as the owners fell out with Steve Bruce and he decided to quit.

Burnley will put up a decent fight, but I think Middlesbrough have the best chance of staying up. They’ve made some quality signings, and manager Aitor Karanka is getting great backing from owner Steve Gibson.

It all adds up to a season packed with excitement.

I’m a massive fan of Jose Mourhino but my money is on Pep Guardiola pipping him to the title after a gripping campaign.

I can see the Spaniard sorting out the Manchester City defence and he’s the ideal man to get Joe Hart back to form in goal.

But the reason I’m backing City comes down to another player.

In Sergio Aguero, I believe they have the best striker in the Premier League.

In fact, I’d go further and say he’s the most talented player plying his trade in England.

He’s got tremendous strength, great pace and is a fabulous finisher.

Of course, Mourinho and Zlatan Ibrahimovic might just prove me wrong.

They’re two men you can never write off and the big Swede has won the title in every country in which he’s played.

I can’t wait for the action to start.
