Inquiry into fisherman’s drowning
A FATAL accident inquiry is to be held this week into the death of a fisherman who drowned off the west coast of Scotland two years ago.
Barnacle III crewman Gary Forbes died on May 13 in 2014 near Tanera Beag which is part of the Summer Isles off West Ross.
The full FAI will consider the circumstances of the 36-year-old’s death and will be held at Inverness Sheriff Court on Wednesday.
Investigators previously said the tragedy again highlighted the need for fishermen to wear lifejackets while working on deck.
A report from the Marine Accident Investigation Board concluded Mr Forbes was dragged under after his right leg became caught on a line.
The Barnacle III, based in Wester Ross, was built in 1985.
