Durrant has the pedigree to become a manager

-

IAN DURRANT is the very definition of a Rangers man.

But pursuing a new career as a manager away from Ibrox could be the best thing for him.

When I heard Ian (left) was looking to make the leap into management after a long career as a coach, it felt like a natural step.

Some have questioned whether he’s ready, having mainly only coached young players in the past.

Some have even questioned whether he is tainted by his association with Ally McCoist’s regime.

For me, those people are talking nonsense.

Ian Durrant was a top player who was coached and managed by some of the best in the business.

You don’t thrive under managers like Jock Wallace, Walter Smith and Craig Brown for so long without picking a few things up along the way.

Being shown the door at Rangers by Mark Warburton clearly came as a shock to the guy.

But it looks like he has picked himself up, dusted himself down, and is looking to the future.

All he needs now is someone to give him a chance, and I have no doubt he will graspit.
