Dilemma in delivery room

-

SO what do you think of Jamie and Jools Oliver’s decision to allow their two daughters – Poppy Honey, 14, and Daisy Boo, 13 – to be present at the birth of their baby brother?

Apparently they even helped cut the umbilical cord.

What will the two girls have made of it all?

I’m sure baby Oliver will be a cherished member of the family but some things are best kept between husband and wife – and that final push of your baby into the world is one of them.

During labour I discovered some swear words which would have shamed a pirate on the seven seas.

Back in the day, men were barred from the delivery room. Once allowed in, they would find a red-faced baby in a white shawl lying beside a tired but tidied-up mum.

Now realism rules. Men see what we go through to produce their child and quite right, too.

A husband should share in the blood, sweat and tears his wife goes through to produce his son or daughter – but I’d bar the door to anyone else.
